Alex was most recently the director for European Affairs and Russia on the White House’s National Security Council. Before this role, he served as the Political-Military Affairs Officer for Russia for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and as an attaché at the American Embassy in Moscow. While on the Joint Staff, he authored the U.S. National Military Strategy for Russia, analyzing and developing comprehensive short- and long-term military policies.
