Protest & Vigil

  • Northeast corner of the intersection of Mequon Rd. and Cedarburg Rd. (map)

Wednesday, Jan. 7, Renee Nicole Good, an American citizen, was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.

We are joining others across the country for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action. Please join Ozaukee Indivisible to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.

Please bring issue specific signs and American flags to this event – we will not have time for a sign making party and need your help! Examples: Stop Ice Terror, ICE Out, Justice for Renee Good, Say Her Name - Renee Good, Accountability is Required, Expose their Lies, Value Human Lives, Hope is Worth the Risk, This is a Moral Moment, Our Future is Worth Fighting for….you get the idea.  We will have a couple of large signs and many smaller flags for people to borrow and battery powered votives as well since it will be windy.

Please only park in the Mequon City Hall parking lot (11333 N Cedarburg Rd).  We ask that you leave the spots that run along the entrance of City Hall for those who require a shorter walk.  There is a large public lot behind the building for everyone else.  Use the crosswalk at the driveway entrance of City Hall to cross Cedarburg Rd.

*A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
