Is Trump Bribing America?
My husband and I turned in our ballots this week. We personally handed them to the clerk. Remember to vote for EVERY Democrat on the ballot. Remember to vote NO on all three Republican written Constitutional amendments. Early in person voting starts October 20th. Remember the only poll that really counts are our votes when counted on Election Day.
Heather Cox Richardson reminded us yesterday that October 7th, 2026, marks ten years from the Trump Access Hollywood tapes revelation (recap here). I do not need to remind you what he said.
Trump surely can’t hand out money fast enough before the midterms. His bribery is evident as is his total lack of economic sense. It is clear why he bankrupted so many businesses.
For example, yesterday: $90 was deposited in my checking account from the Social Security administration. The purpose is to offset the increases in the annual cost to Medicare Part B, which will be $79. This will kick start in 2027. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, “the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) will draw the new $90 payments from the Medicare Improvement Fund, established by Congress in 2008 to “make improvements under the original fee-for-service program,” with an initial allotment of $2.2 billion for fiscal year 2014. Since then, Congress has modified the amount in the fund, but CMS has never used the money. The $90 payments would largely deplete the fund, which currently stands at just over $2 billion.”
Genius. I hope Medicare doesn’t need any improvement anytime soon.
I am certain the reason for the other Trump Bribery: the $500 “Obamacare Rebate” checks is about something, something Biden/Obama did. Oh, here it is from the White House on September 10th: “RETURNING BIDEN OVERCHARGES TO WORKING FAMILIES: Today, President Donald J. Trump announced that the federal government will return to the American people hundreds of millions in Obamacare overcharges, collected by the Biden Administration, by issuing refunds of $500 per person to nearly 1 million Americans in 30 states. Today’s actions directly refund the Americans most exposed to the higher costs imposed by the Biden Administration’s gross mismanagement of Obamacare.”
As NPR explains, “the $500 checks to some ACA users are coming out of fees that insurance companies pay the government to participate in the ACA healthcare marketplace; the fees cover the government’s operating costs for the healthcare exchanges.” That’s been part of how the ACA works from the beginning, but the White House announcement just plain lies about it.
Is the plan to just bankrupt the country, so the billionaires can just stop pretending they don’t run everything? Or maybe we can all get measles and the plague? This is why we need to vote. November 3rd, needs to be a reckoning for all the Republicans who have enabled the unravelling of our country by Trump.
Election Day is the only day of the year that we have the same power as millionaires and billionaires. OUR Vote is our power.
The October 21st Democratic County Party meeting will start at 6:30 instead of 7:00. We will have an abbreviated agenda, so that we can watch the televised Crowley vs.Tiffany debate together. We are asking that you bring a snack or sweet to share. We will provide beverages.There will not be a virtual option for this meeting.
