Great slate of speakers at the 6th CD Convention
Three candidates for governor will be there: Mandela Barnes, Joel Brennan and Kelda Roys. Our two 6th CD candidates – Amanda Bell and Brad Smith – will be speaking. JoCasta Zamarripa, who is running for Secretary of State, and Joshua Taylor, 2nd Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, will also be joining us. This convention is the event where we raise money for our state candidates across the 6th CD, and we have a lot of good people running. Please click here and sign up. We will carpool from the office.
Speaking of running, it appears that the Republicans in the State Legislature now are up to FOURTEEN who have decided not to run this fall. Sen. Andre Jacque from Senate District 1 is the latest to say he is not running. You may remember him as the COVID-19 denier who, after being hospitalized and placed on a ventilator with a severe case of COVID-19 in 2021, declined to say whether his experience has changed his view on the pandemic and public health measures. Prior to his illness, Jacque was a vocal opponent of mask and vaccine mandates related to COVID-19. Perhaps Jacque has some other anti-science measure he would like to pursue in his retirement.
We have a very good chance of taking back the State Senate and the State Assembly on Nov. 3. We need to hold on to the Governor’s seat and flip a few of our Congressional seats blue. It’s all doable this year.
I was reading in one of our great local papers, the Ozaukee Press, about the “generosity” of donations from the tech giants that are building the data center in Port Washington. The quotations are mine. These three tech companies – Vantage, OpenAI and Oracle – have a combined net worth of $1.3 trillion. They gave $225,000 to the Port Washington-Saukville School District Foundation. While that is nice, a local longtime supporter of the community, the Port Washington State Bank, had given that foundation $100,000. Before you get all socialist on me, do you know what they call a billionaire after the much needed tax on billionaires? They call them billionaires.
It is great that you are staying strong and staying involved. We need you to be a formal member of our party. If you are not a member of the party please join us. Click here to become a member.
