Thanks for this spring’s highly successful election

Thank you to everyone who helped with this spring’s highly successful election. We often focus on the candidates, but I want you to know that my gratitude goes out to everyone who helped. It starts with signing nomination papers, agreeing to putting up yard signs, contributing, attending meetings, texting, phoning, writing postcards and knocking doors. Believe me when I say that the Republicans in this county are not happy.

We have to make certain that our historic blue wave is not a blip on the political radar screen. We will be having several opportunities to help get our candidates on the Aug. 11 primary ballot. The first step is to sign your favorite candidates' nomination papers. Our Assembly Candidates need 200 to get on the ballot. This includes Dana Glasstein for Assembly District 22, Deb Andraca for Assembly District 23, and Jack Holzman for Assembly District 59. Please sign your assembly district’s candidates’ papers.

In order to get on the ballot for Congress (against Glenn Grothman) the candidate must secure 1,000 signatures. Amanda Bell and Brad Smith are both running for that seat. You may only sign ONE nomination paper. Candidates for uncontested statewide races – Josh Kaul (Attorney General) and Sarah Godlewski (Lieutenant Governor) – still need to receive 2000 signatures in order to be on the ballot. There are also Secretary of State, State Treasurer and Governor races that all have primaries. They also need 2,000 signatures. So stop in the office and check out your email for opportunities to help. Our communications team will continue to provide us with great information to help guide your choices.

Believe me when I say the Ozaukee County Republicans are not used to losing and they are going to be out in full force supported by their Turning Point USA and Ozaukee Red PAC monies in the fall.

In closing, it is with great sadness and sympathy that I am sharing that we lost one of the youngest members of our county party on Sunday. Thomas Tatterson, son of Vice Chair Bob Tatterson and his wife Kathy, and the brother of Alex, passed away. I first met Thomas as an 11-year-old attending a political celebration with his parents at an event in Grafton. Since that time you have seen Thomas gleefully selling 50/50 raffle tickets at our fundraisers, being a greeter at registrations, holding the microphone for his dad on stage, walking in parades and just being a wonderful, cheerful and engaging young man. From all of us as members of the Ozaukee County Democratic family, we send our love to the Tatterson family. We are so very deeply sorry.
