Rising Prices in Ozaukee County

Just got home from Costco, filled up my 2008 Camry Hybrid with gas for the first time since the War in Iran started, the receipt was for $57.90. I am lucky, being retired and not having to commute to work, or drive kids around in a minivan like I did for decades. Other than my monthly trips to Madison, I don't have to drive very far.

But not to worry, I was told at the Saturday protest in Cedarburg, by a man trolling the crowd, that there is no War in Iran. My sanity bubble popped. So, this guy, dressed very nicely, was asking people, “Why are you protesting?” I responded that we were celebrating Mother’s Day by bringing attention to the erosion of women’s rights in this country. Well, you can guess how that landed. He went on to talk about killing babies, in the 8th month, 9th month, and even after they were born. Yes, sir. I asked him if he was in favor of the War in Iran. His response was, “There is no War in Iran, and we finally have a President after 47 years that is doing something about the nuclear threat of Iran.” I told him when his Fox fog lifted, perhaps we could talk again. I walked away before he could start in on the transgendering of everyone.

As proud as we should be about our election successes in Ozaukee County, there is still much to do. Thank you to our members who will be attending the 6th CD Convention on Sunday. I appreciate your willingness to take part in the process of meeting candidates, working on party resolutions, and meeting great people from across our congressional district.

Stop in the office on Saturday and sign nomination papers if you haven’t done so yet. We have them for all of our state and federal level candidates. The State DPW Convention is the weekend of June 13-14 at the Monona Terrace in Madison. The registration link is here.

I have to submit my list of delegates to the state by May 23. So please let me know if you want to be a delegate, and make sure you register and pay for your tickets. Thanks, and see you this Wednesday at our monthly meeting. We will have more candidates for you to meet.
