We Deserve Better Than to be Governed by Fear & Stupidity
There is a great line from the 2012-2014 HBO television series The Newsroom. If you haven’t watched that show lately, I highly suggest it. The anchor of the fictional network ACN, Will McAvoy, played by Jeff Daniels, says, “I am too old to be governed by fear and stupidity.” I believe that should be a protest sign at the next No Kings Rally on March 28.
We are most certainly being governed by fear and stupidity. The Republicans are very successful at performing. From the State of The Union address to the theater involved in the moving target of justifying the bombing of Iran, Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth keep beating a very dishonest drum. How much did we spend shipping Trump and his minions to Mar-a-Lago to announce his 2 a.m. strike on Iran from the curtained-off basement area of his golf club. Why don’t we demolish the West Wing of the White House; he apparently doesn’t use it.
Hegseth this week said, "Death & destruction from the sky all day. We're playing for keeps. Our warfighters have maximum authorities granted personally by POTUS & yours truly. Our rules of engagement are bold, precisely designed to unleash American power, not shackle it ... we are punching them while they are down.” Wow, just wow.
Please listen to Representative Jason Crow's response to Donald Trump’s illegal war. (Watch here.)
All of you reading this are old enough to remember the June 25, 2025, article from the White House titled “Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Have Been Obliterated - and Suggestions Otherwise are Fake News.” This week Trump said, “If we didn’t hit within 2 weeks they would’ve had a nuclear weapon.” (Watch here.) Preliminary estimates from the Pentagon are saying that Operation Epstein Fury (my words) is costing taxpayers one billion dollars per day.
Our Congressman Glenn Grothman voted against subpoenaing Pam Bondi and has made statements in support of the bombing of Iran. Again, I am too old to be governed by fear and stupidity.
Help us knock some doors for our local candidates and State Supreme Court candidate Chris Taylor. Judge Taylor will be in our office on April 4 at 9 a.m. for that day’s door knocking launch.
Thanks for reading.
