Ozaukee County Wants No Part in Trump’s Gamble

I don't gamble. I don’t go to casinos, I rarely buy a lottery ticket, and I only buy scratch-offs at Christmas as stocking stuffers. I do know people who have been addicted to gambling, who had to file  bankruptcy because of it and lost everything. Gambling is an addiction and unfortunately, we elected a professional gambler as President.

Casinos make money by having its customers lose money. I am fully aware that DJT bankrupted casinos himself, but that is not my point. His personality is driven by his need to win and everyone else’s to lose.

Former Oberlin basketball star and admitted gambling addict, Keese Makeba Laymon, made the following points in an excellent essay from the sports issue of Vanity Fair:

“I get and hate that the nation has handed the health of the world’s children to one of the worst gamblers in North America. When our gambler in chief appears saddest, he seems like most addicted gamblers to risk even more. The gambles never lead to moral wins for the nation or jackpots for the poor Black communities that most prodigious athletic artists come from. Imagine gambling other’s people’s money, taking all the wins, and never admitting that you lose.”

Pick an issue, Iran, shaking down colleges, ICE, firing newscasters and comedians, etc., he wins, we lose. That same principle applies to anyone that supports him. We need to expose the corruption of the GOP. What has Tom Tiffany or Glenn Grothman done to make certain the disgusting actions and crimes found in the Epstein files with the Epstein class are stopped? Nothing. Who’s daughters are next? They don’t care.

So our message and work as we march to the November elections is clear, clean house on these Republicans. The vast corruption system in Hungary brought down Viktor Orban. We can do the same cleanse here.

There were great conversations and suggestions at Coffee,Tea, and Democracy last Saturday. Thank you Monica Curtis for organizing. Please check to make sure your membership is up to date, so you can vote on the approval of our Constitution and Bylaws at our next meeting. We will be hosting gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong at that meeting as well. Sign up for parades and the Fair.

Join Vice Chair Bob Tatterson and myself for a fundraiser for State Senate Candidate Trevor Jung at the Mequon Public Market next Thursday. Remember we need to flip three seats to take the much needed majority and Trevor’s seat is one of them. Help get him elected!

Thanks for reading  and Happy Pride Month!
