Ozaukee County’s Grassroots Democratic Support Grows
We had over fifty Oz Dems marching with us in the Cedarburg 4th of July Parade. If you walked with us, thank you! If you cheered us on from the sidelines, thank you! It was hot and our reception was very positive. One more parade in Port Washington on July 18th: The Fish Days Parade starts at 11:00. It is a much shorter route than Cedarburg, so join us! We will be handing out Fish Beads, Blue beads, and candy. Details as to our staging location will be out soon.
For those of us who have been walking in Ozaukee County parades for years, and in my case too many to count, I cannot stress enough how the reaction to us has changed. A quick family story: In 2018 my youngest son was getting married; his wife is from Mexico and their wedding was in Oaxaca. My husband and I held a party here in Cedarburg for them over the 4th of July. My daughter-in-law and her friends walked in the parade with us. Right out of the gate, people started yelling “Build the Wall” when they saw Andrea and Estephani. They took it in stride and said when we got back to the house, “If we would have known that chant was going to happen, we would have worn sombreros and sarapes!”
This year, we have had far more people thanking us and clapping than we’ve ever had. I also cannot stress enough how much you have helped turn this county from bright red, to pink, to purple. Remember in 2011, Ozaukee County voted 72% for Republican Supreme Court Candidate David Prosser. He won by a mere 5000 votes. On April 7th, 2026, we voted 52% for Democratic Candidate Chris Taylor. That is a remarkable swing in fifteen years. So do not believe the media when they point to ruby-red Ozaukee; we are not. Since 2018, we are the county moving the most quickly into the Democratic lane. It didn’t happen accidentally. Voters in Ozaukee County are learning that it is the Democrats who want to make your life better. So when your neighbor says there are no Democrats in Ozaukee County, start sharing the data.
I am counting on all of you to help us turn Ozaukee County BLUE on November 3rd. Volunteer for things you like to do, and help spread the good news about our great candidates. Ozaukee County’s grassroots support for Democrats continues to grow. We can do this; we can turn Ozaukee County blue.
