Ozaukee Celebrates America’s Independence

It has been fun walking in parades with our fellow Dems. Ozaukee County Democrats celebrate America’s independence in a very a very noticeable way, the differs greatly from what the President would have us do. A great quote from Pam, a Dem party member from Port Washington really sums it up: “It took Donald Trump to get me to walk in a parade! I have never walked in one before in my life!” Pam indeed walked in two parades last Saturday and she will be joining us in Cedarburg for their 4th of July parade. Why? Because we are celebrating an America that President Trump knows nothing about. If you haven’t signed up yet, please join us. We will be gathering at Fireman’s Park at 9:00 AM. Our designated line up spot is on the red line, #22. Just ask one of the parade marshals where we are when you get there. Wear an Oz Dem’s shirt and/or patriotic gear. We will be handing out beads, bracelets, flags, and candy. We had a great crowd in Thiensville last Saturday; let's make this an even bigger turnout.

Someone who is having a lot of fun and getting richer at our expense, is our Corrupter-in Chief, Donald Trump. Charlie Sykes had a great and snarky take on this today in his column: “Donald Trump’s 2025 financial disclosures are out, and boy, did he rake it in last year: a $500 million deal to sell half his crypto company World Liberty Financial to a UAE firm. Hundreds of millions more in fees related to sales of his memecoin and other digital assets, and on and on. All told, Trump pulled in more than $2.2 billion last year. It’s a good moment to revisit a favorite Karoline Leavitt quote: “Neither the President nor his family have ever engaged, or will ever engage, in conflicts of interest.” Which may even be true: Trump plainly cares a lot about his personal fortune and zero about the future of America, so where’s the conflict?” Love that.

On another point, our Congressman Glenn Grothman, made the comment at an event when asked about the Epstein files, “Just get over it.” If you see Glenn sprinting along the parade route on Saturday, please ask him why he is protecting these pedophiles.

Our Senator Jodi Habush Sinykin held a press conference on Monday to raise awareness of the defunding of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program by Republicans starting on July 1st. Several Oz Dems were there to hear her speak as well as newly elected and Oz Dems member County Supervsor Todd Ambs who spent many years working for the DNR. As I watched our fine Senator speak, I kept thinking about former Senator Stroebel’s role in holding up the funding on the Joint Finance Committee for the Cedar Clay Gorge project. My current Assemblyman Paul Melotik (R-AD22) voted with Robin Voss to end funding. You can find our Senator’s remarks below.

Finally, if you have received your absentee ballot in the mail, remember it is a PARTISAN PRIMARY. What that means is that you can only vote for one party’s candidates. In our case we only vote for the Democrats. If you live in Assembly District 22, you vote for Dana Glasstein, if you live in Assembly District 23 you vote for Deb Andraca, and if you live in Assembly District 59, you vote for Jack Holzman. We have no State Senate race in Ozaukee County this year. There is a Democratic Primary race for our 6th Congressional Seat against Glenn Grothman, select either Amanda Bell or Brad Smith. We have a large field for the Governor’s race, vote for one Democrat in that Primary. The other statewide Democratic Primary is for State Treasurer. We have no candidates running for County positions so do not vote for Republicans in those races. If you cross over and vote in both parties' primaries, your ballot will be thrown out. So even if you want to vote, do not vote in the election for Sheriff Christy Knowles, because she will win…she has no opponent.

That is a lot I know. Thank you for reading, see you on Saturday!
