Ozaukee County Democrats Celebrate America’s Birthday the Right Way
As we turn the corner on parade and Ozaukee County Fair season, please take the time to sign up for at least one of the parades and a shift at the Fair. The schedule can be found in this newsletter.
Fun Before the 4th, June 27th, is Thiensville’s kick-off parade, and we would like to have a good crowd walking with the Ozaukee Dems. This year, we will be handing out red, white, and blue beads (similar to last year) to parade goers. It is a fun alternative to the tons of candy that is handed out by other groups. After the parade, we will gather in the park courtesy of the Membership Committee. Look for the blue balloons.
Last weekend, a large delegation of Ozaukee Democrats attended the State Democratic Convention. In fact, we were the largest county delegation in the 6th Congressional District. We even received a shoutout from the stage regarding the good work we are doing from DPW Chair Devin Remiker.
The two resolutions that our county crafted and were passed at the 6th CD Convention were included in the Resolutions Booklet. They will now be used to advise the DPW on its 2028 and 2030 Platform Drafts.
The two resolutions were: “Stop Government Interference in the Media Broadcast and Entertainment Industries” and “Address the Dangers and Ramifications of Unregulated Artificial Intelligence.” Thank you to our representatives on the State Platform and Resolutions Committee, Nancy Miller and Elaine Vokoun, for keeping us on task. Connie Kincaide, Jim Blank, and I also helped write them. Thank you to all of you at our April meeting who commented and voted on these resolutions.
We listened to speeches from all the statewide candidates and the results of the straw poll taken at the convention on the Gubernatorial candidates can be found here.
Finally, with the most insane and corrupt, racist and sexist administration this country has ever seen, remember Tip O’Neill’s famous quote “All politics is local.” Focus on what we can control. Help our local candidates, get involved, walk in a parade, have some fun with us, and you will feel better.
