Democrats, Including Brad Smith, Receive Important Endorsements
On Tuesday night, the Chairs of the 6th Congressional District (you know the CD Glenn Grothman has held for four terms) and the 6th CD Leadership Team voted unanimously to endorse the candidacy of the victor of the August 11th Democratic Primary, Brad Smith. This is the first time we have had a Democratic primary since Ozaukee County was re-districted into the 6th District. We used to be in the 5th, where Jim Sensenbrenner was our Congressman (another man of the people). Amanda Bell was a really good candidate and, as 6th CD Chairs, we look forward to working with her on the campaign trail.
We also voted to help our local candidates across the Congressional District. We have a record number of 18 candidates. That includes three from our county: Dana Glasstein, Assembly District 22; Deb Andraca, Assembly District 23; and Jack Holzman, Assembly District 59. There were many years when all of these races went unopposed, with Republicans filling them. To have eighteen candidates is very exciting.
Ozaukee County has the highest percentage of members in the 6th CD Democratic Party as it relates to our population. I am asking you to help us get that membership number up another 50%. Finally, Blue-Zaukee!!! Our truly very very fun annual fundraiser is on September 10th at Shully’s, and will feature Congresswoman Gwen Moore and many of our great candidates. We count on the money we raise for our office rent payments, for yard signs and billboards, committee and community projects, and funding support for our candidates. Buy a ticket or, if you cannot attend, make a donation or help Maggie Gorchoff out by donating something unique to the silent auction. Can’t wait to see you there.
We lost a true angel this week. Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton, and thanks for reading.
